The two bands on this split represent different threads within the extreme doom genre.

AMAROK, from California, complete their side with one long and epic song. They have a sound that is more aligned with the sorrowful, melodic side of the doom spectrum. This would appeal to fans of such bands as MOURNFUL CONGREGATION, PALLBEARER and (maybe) LURKER OF CHALICE.

HELL from Oregon, complete their side of the tape with three shorter (than they're used to anyway) songs. Coming off the heels of their third album as well as a split with THOU last year, this material continues in a similar vein. Spiteful, oppressive, and even melancholic at times. This is a band that people would do well to pay attention to as they're currently in the top tier of US extreme doom bands.
